Sockdolager is a lightning-paced dark comedy set
in the late 1920’s. As a site-specific production held in the historic Campbell House, the show immerses its audience in this exciting
era of Toronto’s history. With a ferociously talented cast of nine, this
stylized and engrossing tale explores the profoundly dark and the
profoundly silly.

S
heltered debutante Adeline Sweetman is throwing a dinner party at her Toronto abode in 1928. Her guests include her faux bohemian brother; her nose-bleed-prone sister-in-law; a cruel businessman; an idealistic film producer; and an oversexed trapeze artist dubbed The Bombyx Mori (Latin for “silkworm”, naturally). Also present: a shifty-eyed valet, an overworked cook and an awkward ukulele musician. Intrigue ensues as each guest witnesses a “sockdolager”- the decisive blow that changes everything.
